Málaga is only around eight kilometres from its airport, and the Costa del Sol is easy to reach by train and bus. The further your hotel is towards Marbella or Nerja, the more worthwhile a pre-booked driver becomes.

Suburban train along the coast

The train stops directly at the airport and runs into the city as well as towards Torremolinos, Benalmádena and Fuengirola. For destinations on this line, it is the best option. Marbella and Nerja are not on the railway, so you will always need to continue by bus or taxi.

Private transfer: fixed price and a driver who waits

A pre-booked private transfer means this: the driver knows your flight number, waits if there is a delay, the price is fixed before booking, and luggage is included. It is the right option for late arrivals, for families needing child seats, and for anything further away than the city centre. If you are travelling light and want to stay spontaneous, you do not need it.

Uber in Málaga: available, pick-up in the car park

Uber can be used in Málaga and works with licensed private hire vehicles with driver as well as taxis. At the airport, pick-up takes place in the car park by the third terminal on level zero, not at the arrivals kerb. In high season, availability can be tight.

When a private transfer makes sense

For hotels in Marbella, Estepona or the white villages, a pre-booked driver is the simplest solution because that is where the train-and-bus chain comes to an end. Especially if you have golf bags, family in tow, or a late flight.

Hire car: excellent for Andalusia

For Ronda, Granada, Córdoba and the mountain villages, a car is the best choice. In Málaga itself, you do not need one, as the old town is pedestrianised and parking is limited.

How Reisedrop handles the question after booking

After your hotel booking we do not ask whether you want to buy a transfer, we ask how you are getting to your accommodation in Málaga. You see two options side by side: a private transfer you lock in beforehand, and a direct link into the Uber app with your destination pre-filled if you would rather stay flexible. No flood of suppliers, no invented guide prices. Private transfers and rental cars are booked with external providers, and with Uber you are forwarded straight to Uber. Price, availability and booking sit with the respective provider. We are not a partner of Uber and deliberately show no Uber prices.

💡 Save the hotel address as a screenshot before departure, ideally in the local language. That helps any driver more than an app description and still works without a network connection.
