Oslo Airport is about fifty kilometres north of the city, but getting in is straightforward: the airport express reaches the city centre in around twenty minutes.

Airport express or regional train

The express runs very frequently and gets you there fast, while the regular regional trains take a few minutes longer and cost less. For almost any hotel in Oslo, the train is the best option, not least because the station is so central.

Private transfer: a fixed price and a driver who waits

A pre-booked private transfer means: the driver knows your flight number, waits if you are delayed, the price is fixed before you book, and luggage is included. It is the right option for late arrivals, for families needing child seats, and for anything farther out than the city centre. If you are travelling light and want to stay flexible, you do not need it.

Uber in Norway: currently unavailable

Uber is not currently operating in Oslo. The Norwegian market is served by traditional taxi companies, which can easily be booked by app or by phone, with comparatively high fares. So do not rely on the Uber app when you land here.

When a private transfer makes sense

If you are arriving late in the evening, carrying ski equipment, or heading outside the city, a pre-booked driver is the most predictable option. In particular in the Norwegian winter, you do not want to be standing on the platform hoping to catch the last connection.

Hire car: for fjords and mountain roads

You do not need a car in Oslo; the city has tolls and limited parking. For the fjords, Telemark, or a road trip, though, it is well worth it — in winter, make sure you have suitable tyres and do not plan your timings too tightly.

How Reisedrop handles the question after booking

After your hotel booking we do not ask whether you want to buy a transfer, we ask how you are getting to your accommodation in Oslo. You see two options side by side: a private transfer you lock in beforehand, and a direct link into the Uber app with your destination pre-filled if you would rather stay flexible. No flood of suppliers, no invented guide prices. Private transfers and rental cars are booked with external providers, and with Uber you are forwarded straight to Uber. Price, availability and booking sit with the respective provider. We are not a partner of Uber and deliberately show no Uber prices.

💡 Save the hotel address as a screenshot before departure, ideally in the local language. That helps any driver more than an app description and still works without a data connection.
