How Paris shifts monthly

Paris usually softens in November and again from January into February because leisure demand drops after autumn city breaks and before spring weekends, while hotels and airlines still keep year-round capacity for business travel and residents. December often splits in two: early dates can behave like low season, then the weeks around Christmas and New Year tighten quickly. March to May tends to rise as conference traffic, school trips and short-break demand overlap. Summer is less uniform than many travellers assume: July can stay firm around Bastille Day on 14 July, while late August often changes again as French holidays end and trade fairs restart.

Where the curve breaks

The Paris price curve does not move smoothly; it often breaks around a few short periods. The first break is New Year, when a cheap January pattern starts only after the holiday dates clear. Another common break is Easter timing, because it shifts spring demand between March and April and can compress busy weekends around school holidays. A third break comes in late May and June, when trade fairs at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles and events at Parc des Expositions Paris Nord Villepinte can push specific districts faster than the city average. In our own hotel readings for Paris, the lowest observed night was EUR 18 and the median was EUR 199.

How to read prices

For Paris, booking windows depend on the part of the year. For November and January-February, checking six to ten weeks ahead often gives a cleaner view because enough rooms and seats are loaded, but the market has not fully tightened around weekends and events. For spring and early summer, start tracking two to four months ahead because event dates and school holidays can move prices earlier. Do not compare a Tuesday in La Défense with a Saturday in Le Marais and call it a trend; compare same weekday, same area and similar hotel class. On flights, our cheapest measured fare was Frankfurt to Paris with Lufthansa on 2026-10-29 for EUR 109.

FAQ

When is Paris cheapest?

Usually in these months: Nov, Jan–Feb. That is when lower airfares and lower hotel rates line up.

Where do the prices on this page come from?

From our own daily readings – we query flight and hotel prices ourselves and store them. The basis is stated under each figure.

How do I find the cheapest month for my dates?

Set the Drop Alert: we keep watching Paris and email you as soon as the price falls below the average we have measured so far.

Why can Paris be cheap in winter but still expensive on some dates?

Because Paris has year-round business and event demand. January and February are often softer overall, but trade fairs, fashion periods, rugby fixtures or a single high-demand weekend can push rooms in central districts and near expo venues well above the monthly pattern.

How should I use a price history table for Paris?

Treat it as context, not a guarantee. Compare the same travel month, weekday pattern, airport and district before drawing conclusions. A low outlier such as our own measured EUR 18 hotel night shows that very cheap dates exist, but it does not describe the normal market level.
