How Tenerife prices move

Tenerife usually has two cheaper stretches in our comparisons: May to June and September to November. The pattern comes from capacity and school calendars rather than weather alone. Airlines keep year-round service into Tenerife South Airport, but winter demand rises when northern Europe looks for short-haul sun. That pushes flights and hotels up from December into March. July and August often stay firm because families travel during school holidays, even though the island is hot and beaches are busy. The softer months sit between those demand waves. On the hotel side, our own readings ranged from EUR 28 per night to a median of EUR 234, based on 882 readings between 2026-08-23 and 2026-10-10.

Where the curve usually breaks

The line does not rise and fall smoothly. The first break is around Christmas and New Year, when limited holiday dates force demand into roughly two weeks and direct seats from Germany, Switzerland and the UK tighten quickly. The second break is often Easter, because the date moves each year and can suddenly pull March or April higher than neighbouring weeks. A third break appears in late July to mid-August, driven by school holidays across several source markets at once. For booking timing, winter and Easter usually reward earlier checking, while May, June, September and parts of November often show more choice for longer before departure.

Read price history properly

A price calendar only helps if you compare like with like. First, separate flight and hotel logic: a cheap seat into Tenerife South can coincide with expensive resorts in Costa Adeje or Los Cristianos. Second, watch the exact travel week, not just the month label, because one holiday week can distort the average. Third, compare departure airport and airline mix. Our cheapest measured flight was Frankfurt to Teneriffa with Lufthansa on 2026-10-29 for EUR 180, but that says something specific about one route and date, not every German departure. Finally, use medians to understand the usual level and lows only to show what occasionally appeared in our own readings.

FAQ

When is Tenerife cheapest?

Usually in these months: May–Jun, Sep–Nov. That is when lower airfares and lower hotel rates line up.

Where do the prices on this page come from?

From our own daily readings – we query flight and hotel prices ourselves and store them. The basis is stated under each figure.

How do I find the cheapest month for my dates?

Set the Drop Alert: we keep watching Tenerife and email you as soon as the price falls below the average we have measured so far.

How far ahead should I check Tenerife for winter travel?

For December to March, start tracking several months ahead because warm-weather demand concentrates into a limited winter season. Watch both airports and hotels separately. Flights can tighten first, while hotel prices differ sharply between Puerto de la Cruz, Costa Adeje and Playa de las Américas.

Why can one week in Tenerife cost much more than the next?

Holiday concentration is the usual reason. Christmas, New Year, Easter and late-summer school breaks compress many travellers into a short window. Tenerife has year-round capacity, but not enough to keep those peak weeks priced like the quieter weeks in May, June or parts of autumn.
