How Majorca shifts yearly

Majorca’s annual price curve is shaped by airline seat supply and the island’s short but intense beach season. From late March, Palma de Mallorca Airport (PMI) gains frequencies from Basel, Geneva, Zurich and many German cities, so fares can soften briefly before Easter demand fills the extra seats. May is often one of the easier months because hotels are open, sea temperatures are still a compromise, and school-holiday pressure is lighter than in July and August. In our own hotel readings for Mallorca, the lowest observed rate was EUR 23 per night and the median was EUR 184, based on 882 readings between 2026-08-23 and 2026-10-10. That gap shows how sharply dates, resort area and booking timing can change the bill.

Where the curve breaks

The clean monthly pattern usually breaks in a few specific windows. Easter can pull spring prices up across only ten to fourteen days, especially on Friday and Sunday flight departures. Late June often marks the handover from shoulder season to school-holiday demand, when family routes into PMI fill faster and hotel availability in beach districts such as Alcúdia, Cala d’Or and Playa de Palma tightens. A second break comes around late October half-term, even though the island is moving into the quieter period. For flights, our own cheapest reading was Basel to Mallorca with easyJet on 2026-10-31 for EUR 36, which shows that a low fare can appear inside autumn, but it does not describe every departure day around that week.

How to read history

For Majorca, a price history table is useful only if you separate month, weekday and lead time. A cheap October fare can mislead you if you compare it with an August Saturday departure, because the real difference may be school holidays and weekend demand rather than the destination becoming cheaper overall. For May and September to October, start checking about two to four months ahead, because capacity is broad but not unlimited. For July and August, looking four to seven months ahead is usually safer, as nonstop seats from Swiss airports are finite and family-sized hotel rooms disappear earlier. Read medians as the normal middle, and treat the lowest observed price as an outlier that may depend on one route, one date and one baggage rule.

FAQ

When is Majorca cheapest?

Usually in these months: May, Sep–Oct. That is when lower airfares and lower hotel rates line up.

Where do the prices on this page come from?

From our own daily readings – we query flight and hotel prices ourselves and store them. The basis is stated under each figure.

How do I find the cheapest month for my dates?

Set the Drop Alert: we keep watching Majorca and email you as soon as the price falls below the average we have measured so far.

Why are May and September to October often easier on the budget in Majorca?

Those months sit between the island’s demand peaks. Most resorts, flights and ferries are running, but pressure from school holidays is weaker than in July and August. You still get broad seat supply into Palma de Mallorca Airport, while hotel occupancy is less compressed in beach areas.

How should I compare hotel and flight price history for Majorca without misreading it?

Compare like with like: same month, similar booking lead time, same airport and the same luggage conditions. For hotels, compare the same district and board type. A low one-night reading or a midweek fare can sit far below the median without representing what most travellers will actually book.
