How Lisbon prices move

Lisbon usually has two cheaper stretches in our own readings and season notes: November to December, then January to March. The pattern comes from airline and hotel capacity meeting uneven demand. Summer brings more city-break traffic, school holidays and cruise-linked stays, so hotels in central districts such as Baixa, Chiado and Alfama tend to fill faster than outer areas near Oriente or Sete Rios. Flights from Switzerland also tighten when weekend demand rises, especially on direct links into Humberto Delgado Airport. In the cooler months, seat supply often stays in the market while leisure demand softens, which is why the curve typically drops outside holiday weeks.

Where the curve breaks

The Lisbon curve does not move smoothly month by month; it usually breaks in short windows. Late December often jumps because Christmas and New Year concentrate arrivals into a narrow period, even though December as a whole can still be cheaper. Around Carnival season in February or early March, some dates rise while nearby weeks stay lower, so averages can hide the spike. Another break often appears around Easter, which shifts across March and April and affects both short city trips and family travel. For summer, the last two weeks of July and the first half of August often behave differently from June because school-holiday demand arrives faster than extra capacity.

How to read price history

Use a price history table to compare like with like: same airport pair, same baggage rules, same day of week and similar booking lead time. Our own hotel readings for Lissabon show a lowest observed rate of EUR 22 per night and a median of EUR 185, based on 882 readings between 2026-08-23 and 2026-10-10. That gap shows why one low outlier should not define your expectation. For flights, our cheapest measured fare was Genf to Lissabon with easyJet on 2026-10-29 for EUR 66. Read that as one observed combination, not as the standard level for every month. For November to March, checking earlier often helps you compare more seat supply; for Easter, summer and late December, start further ahead because the cheaper combinations tend to disappear sooner.

FAQ

When is Lisbon cheapest?

Usually in these months: Nov–Dec, Jan–Mar. That is when lower airfares and lower hotel rates line up.

Where do the prices on this page come from?

From our own daily readings – we query flight and hotel prices ourselves and store them. The basis is stated under each figure.

How do I find the cheapest month for my dates?

Set the Drop Alert: we keep watching Lisbon and email you as soon as the price falls below the average we have measured so far.

When should I start checking Lisbon for the cheaper months?

For November to March, start checking a few months ahead so you can compare direct flights into Lisbon against one-stop options and watch central hotel districts separately from outer areas. For Christmas, New Year and Easter, begin earlier because short peak windows can distort the whole month.

Why can Lisbon look cheap in one table and expensive in another?

Because monthly averages mix very different dates and products. A Tuesday flight from Geneva with only a small bag is not comparable with a Friday departure including checked luggage. Hotel tables also mix central areas like Baixa with outer zones near the airport or Oriente, which shifts the median.
